With 35 years of clinical experience behind her, Karen is a skilled and reliable nurse. She completed her Diploma in Nursing in the late 80s and has continued to build upon her education ever since. Karen attends study days and e-learning opportunities to further her knowledge and hone critical thinking. She works as a senior staff nurse within outpatient clinics at her local tertiary hospital. Her roles are varied, which suits her broad nursing base. Prior to working in outpatient clinics, Karen spent a decade nursing in the emergency department (ED) where she covered all roles including triage, resus, adult short stay, kids place, and as Nurse-In-Charge (Co-ordinator) as necessary. Outside of work, Karen is kept busy with a husband, three children and one grandchild. She has been involved with a number of sports clubs over the years and was previously a long-serving member of the Royal NZ Plunket Society.
