Dr Stuart Ekdahl

Urgent Care Specialist BHB MBChB FRNZCUC

Dr Ekdahl is a pioneer of accident and medical care in Aotearoa. After obtaining his medical degree from Auckland University in the 1980’s, he was instrumental in establishing the urgent care approach to primary care in New Zealand. Dr Ekdahl co-founded (and on-sold) White Cross Ltd, NZ’s first chain of urgent care clinics. Dr Ekdahl continues in senior clinical roles in urgent care - and in 2013 he became a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care. He assisted Auckland Regional Public Health in their pandemic management and maintains an active interests in urgent care practice quality and in epidemiology. Dr Ekdahl has a special interest in germicidal ultraviolet systems and engineering control of airborne disease. Outside of medicine, he enjoys family time, gardening, skiing, and reading speculative fiction.
