Dr Katherine “Kat” Kabala

Dr Kabala is an emergency physician, an athlete, an expedition leader, and a sport and event doctor. She has competed internationally in both triathlon and swimming – most recently representing Great Britain at both the European and World Triathlon Championships. She has led expeditions to Kilimanjaro and the Grand Canyon. And has served as the doctor on many renowned mountain treks and remote marine expeditions. Dr Kabala has also lent her medical expertise to numerous international sporting events including hockey, cycling, treks, and ultramarathon. Her medical career began in Plymouth, with much of her early work carried out at Derriford Hospital. Since then Dr Kabala has bounced back-and-forth between New Zealand and the UK, gaining qualifications and experience in both hemispheres. She has pursued emergency medicine for 15 years gaining broad experience in both hospitals and in wilderness environments. Here in Aotearoa she has worked in Taranaki, Waikato, and Rotorua. Dr Kabala is currently residing in Bath, where she works as a ED Consultant in the local Royal United Hospital, while concurrently working in telehealth here in New Zealand.
