Dr Grant Highstead

Dr Highstead moved to New Zealand in 2016 from the United States. Initially here for a one-year contract in Palmerston North, it wasn’t long before Dr Highstead, with his wife and daughter, adapted to our kiwi lifestyle and decided to make Aotearoa their new home. Dr Highstead had been working nights as an A&E doctor in North America before he hit our shores; he has been a Specialist Consultant in Emergency Medicine since 2011. Now a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, Dr Highstead has a special interest in the management of acute pain and head injuries. Prior to specilaising in Emergency Medicine, Dr Highstead trained in General Surgery, including subspecialty training in Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery. In addition to his clinical and administrative responsibilities, Dr Highstead is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree from UNSW in Australia.
