Dr Kerner has practiced medicine in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Tonga - and has also had professional links with Cambodia for many years. His training started in England, where he graduated from the University of Sheffield Medical School. He did a little further training in General Practice before honing in Emergency Medicine. Dr Kerner is a teaching doctor. He held various Senior Lecturer and Advisor/Supervisor posts in the UK, and is now a Country Liaison Representative for Cambodia to the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and Committee member for the Global Emergency Care network for ACEM. He serves on the International Federation Emergency Medicine (IFEM) for curriculum design and is also a Medical Advisor for Volunteer Services Abroad (VSA) having volunteered in Tonga as an Emergency Trainer at Viola Hospital. Dr Kerner is currently located in Auckland and works as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at both North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. Outside of medicine, Dr Kerner takes pleasure in coffee, dark chocolate and gardening, and takes interest in archeology.
