Dr Peckler received his undergraduate BA from Tulane University (New Orleans) and his medical doctorate from St. George’s University School of Medicine (Grenada). After finishing his training in Emergency Medicine and chief resident year at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, he became a core faculty member of the Cornell University, Emergency Medicine Residency at Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx, New York. In 2004, he moved to Florida to become a core faculty member and Associate Professor in the Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of South Florida at Tampa General Hospital. He was the director of simulation and worked extensively with the medical school simulation program. He has been working in New Zealand part-time since 2009, has been a full-time consultant since 2013 at Wellington Hospital, and is the clinical lead for Simulation and Skills Centre for the hospital. Simulation and educational process have been his focus of teaching, research, and publications. Dr Peckler is currently the president of the New Zealand Association for Simulation in Healthcare (NZASH). Outside of work his interests include squash, golf, mountain biking, and brewing.
