Dr Adrian Owen

Emergency Medicine Specialist MBChB, DTM&H, FACEM

Dr Owen spent much of his life travelling and practising medicine across the globe before settling in New Zealand. While he was born in England, trained at The University of Sheffield, and initially worked as a house officer in UK, Dr Owen’s medical career was destined for international sights. His intrepid travels have taken him across 55 countries to date. He has worked in orthopaedic trauma surgery in Kwa-Zulu Natal, and emergency medicine in Cape Town. He then set up a paediatric admissions unit in Pakistan with MFS (Doctors Without Borders), as well as working with the BBC in Africa. Dr Owen gained a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in London and trained in emergency medicine here in New Zealand. More recently he’s worked down-under in Port Macquarie (NSW) and Whangarei (Aotearoa). He now lives in Raglan, which he refers to as “the best place on Earth” with his wife and one-year-old son. He is also a doctor for the NZ Urban Search and Rescue team.
