Company Overview
From its Papakura head office, Emergency Consultancy Ltd endeavors to be a customer focused one stop location for Fire Evacuation and Emergency Planning equipment, training and consultancy. 
 
For our clients to get the best from our assistance we lean heavily on three words.  These being: 
Knowledge we bring to the job.
Planning we develop with the help of our client.
Practice includes rehearsing the emergency procedures to train people and improve the emergency capability of the client.
Experience and Qualifications
Our Fire Evacuation experience is based on our Managing Directors more than 10 years successfully having Evacuation Schemes approved for clients, and the preparation of Evacuation Procedure documents for clients.  To achieve this we provide the consultancy, training and some items of equipment, plus assisting the Fire Service with concerns and issues relating to the clients building.  At the completion of the task most of our clients have retained our services to continue the Warden training, ongoing maintenance of their evacuation schemes, and audit the IQP compliance standards for fire evacuation related items.
 
The Civil Defence and Emergency Management experience and qualifications are from specalised training at Disaster and Civil Defence Colleges in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and United States of America, plus 13 years New Zealand Civil Defence experience as a volunteer, trainer and senior management levels.  Among other skills Lynn has gained the specialised knowledge to prepare and assist communities and business affected by natural, man made and technological disasters and emergencies.  This has given Lynn operational experience in two New Zealand Civil Defence emergencies.  Plus through other assignments Lynn has visited many overseas community and business disasters after the event and learned what did and did not work over the long term for that community or business.

 

Who are our Clients?
While our client list remains confidential, we have a continuously growing list of clients from a very wide spectrum of commercial, social and government activities.  Most of our clients are in the medium and large business size with several having only a single office .  We have a very wide range of enterprises we assist - entertainment, manufacturing, argiculture and horticulture, education, shopping malls, distributiion, accommodation units are several of the areas our clients come from.  Many of our clients specialised Bio Security and other compliance impediments for both staff being evacuated and the entry of fire responders.

To ensure these are not just words, the staff participate in evaluation sessions where we evaluate our performance against the Mission Statement, our aim statement, and our Customer Charter.
 

Customer Charter

This has been developed by the Directors for the people we deal with outside the Company to evaluate our individual and collective performance.
 
This Customer Charter states
“While Emergency Consultancy Ltd specalises in all aspects of Emergency and Health and Safety Management we acknowledge:
  • We are employed by our customers.
  • This consultancy has a responsibility to meet our customers’ requirements and expectations.
  • Emergency Consultancy must be accountable for the information and training it provides.
  • Any client information or material Emergency Consultancy Ltd or its staff either use or become aware of, remains the property of clients.
  • Emergency Consultancy and staff have a commitment to develop their expertise and skills, and continually improve our products and services.
  • It is our staff's responsibility to assist customers improve their Emergency Management capability.”
 
 
 
Company Milestones
 
2005  An independant customer survey gave Emergency Consultancy Ltd a one of the highest customer satisfaction rating the company has experianced.  A sumary of the report is available on request.  See contact us pages of this web site. 
 
2005  As part of an ongoing systems review, the company installed a computer server to better meet our customer service standards.
 
2004 Inclusion of Fire Extinguisher Familiarisation courses for a client's general staff and Fire Wardens.
 
2003  Accepted by the Fire Protection Association New Zealand as meeting the standard for category 1, 2, and 3 buildings.  The only other category, category 4 for managed evacuation systems is being assessed by the Association.
 
2003  Approved as an NZQA Assessor.

 

1999  Nominated by a client and approved by the Board for listing in the International WHOS WHO for Professionals.
 
1998  The Fire Service audited and approved the Managing Director as a trainer and examiner for Safety Warden Qualification Courses for buildings and functions here NZ Standard 9232:1991 Model By Law, Prevention against Fire and Panic in Cinemas, Theatres, and Places of Assembly applies.  This approval has never been revoked and many courses continue to be held.
 
1997 Selected as a provider of a national Customer Service programme.  While the programme was closed 2 years later, many of the customer service principles we taught have been included in the standards and culture of Emergency Consultancy Limited.
 
1996 Emergency Consultancy Limited opened a branch in Auckland.
 
1995  With the assistance of the NZ Fire Service our staff developed a Warden training Course to meet the standards required by the Fire Safety and Evacuation of Buildings Regulations.  Since its inception this course has continually evolved, and is now being used by several clients as the minimum standard for all staff. 
 
 
1993 Mr Lynn Smith opened Emergency Consultancy Limited.
 

Customer Survey Results

As part of our internal review of systems we asked Premier Associates Linmited to carry out a customer survey for our company.  Included in the survey were past and present customers from many different industries, and had to equally include the different sizes of customers.
 
The results were very encouraging and show the high priority emergency Consultancy Limited put on service to our business family.  Extracts from the report are listed below with included a very high approximately 61% of replys from the selected clients.  The following coments have been taken from the customers replys.

Emergency Consultancy had little to do with how this project weas run or the collating the result of is project.  We thank our customers for their confidence they have in us through their very positive coments.  The above are only a very small summary.   We will endevour to continue maintaining our standards and your expectations.
